Expert comments as a Japanese family law scholar were quoted on the top page of Yahoo! Japan.
Here is what Dr. Shiraki said.
“In order to substantially protect Japanese child performers from sexual abuse, the potential conflict of interest between them and their parents must be acknowledged. As the protection of children by their parents is inherently not expected, the protection of children by the law is needed. The Government of Japan should immediately enact legislation directly addressing the protection of child performers. Without effective legislative action, it is said that future products produced by the Japanese talent industry will be suspected of being the product of sexual exploitation, which will reduce the competitiveness of the Japanese content industry.”
